No.53.
COPY
Auditor to Colonial Secretary, Hong Kong.
24th September, 1924.
549
Sir,
I have the honour to submit for the
information of H.E. The Governor, a copy of
attached report by Mr.Dailin, Assistant Auditor,
on the result of his recent surprise survey of
the Treasury Cash, which disclosed the apparent
irregular practice of accepting monies paid in
between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. by the public, and
tendering no receipts at the time. The Cashier
was present during the survey, and the Treasurer
towards the end of the survey.
2.
I am of opinion that this irregular
practice can and should be remedied in the
future, and I shall therefore be obliged if you
will kindly inform me in due course as to what
action has been taken in this matter.
I have, etc..
(Sgd) H.R.PHELIPS.
Auditor.
